Frequently asked questions.
Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we do not accept insurance and operate on a self-pay model, offering personalized, one-on-one hour-long sessions with Dr. Seher. This approach ensures transparent pricing with no surprise bills, allowing you to know exactly what you'll pay. We offer flexible payment options, including packages starting at $160/visit. We prioritize compassionate care and want to help as many people as we can, therefore, please contact us to ask about a sliding scale option or pro bono (there is usually a waitlist for pro bono). All major payment methods, including HSA, are accepted. We can provide a Superbill for out-of-network insurance claims. Please note, we are not a Medicare provider and cannot offer services covered by Medicare.
What can I expect during my first visit?
During your initial visit, we will listen to your story first and then conduct a thorough musculoskeletal assessment, which may include strength and range of motion tests, movement and postural analysis, and possibly an internal pelvic floor exam if needed and if you feel comfortable with it! Enthusiastic consent is important to us! :)
We will explain the exam findings and how they relate to your diagnosis, along with an overview of your physical therapy plan of care.
We will provide you with education and an initial home management program, which may include exercises, activity modifications, and self-treatment strategies.
What is an internal exam?
If necessary, an internal pelvic floor exam can allow us to get the full picture of what is going on in your pelvic floor! With your consent, an internal vaginal or rectal exam may be performed. During the exam, we use one gloved finger with non-irritating lube to assess the pelvic floor muscles' tone, strength, coordination and sensitivity. No stirrups or speculums are used. Please note- we specialize in pelvic pain and pelvic floor conditions and we are sensitive to your pain in this area, you will be in good hands!
How long will I be in physical therapy?
Of course, this depends person to person, as each plan of care is unique! Most people at Embodied Healing PT are seen for about 10-12 visits, starting with weekly sessions and tapering to bi-weekly or monthly. Some may need additional visits or elect to come in for monthly appointments for continued care or maintenance. This approach helps achieve lasting results and fine-tuning as you get back to your normal activities!
